The Sanlam Leruo Enterprise Development Programme is designed to empower stokvels with the tools, knowledge, and resources needed to formalise, grow, and transition into sustainable collective investment schemes. The programme supports financial literacy, governance, and enterprise development.

What kind of support does the programme offer?

Support is tailored to the maturity and development needs of each stokvel and includes: 

 

  • Development or review of founding documents or constitutions 
  • Establishment or enhancement of governance structures 
  • Branding and marketing support 
  • Guidance on savings and investment solutions 
  • Training and mentorship on financial strategies 
  • Support in formalising the stokvel for long-term sustainability 

Who qualifies to apply for the programme?

To be eligible, a stokvel must: 

 

  • Be based in Gauteng Province 
  • Be operational for at least one year 
  • Have a minimum of 5 members 
  • Demonstrate monthly contributions and a separate bank account 
  • Show a need for business development support 
  • Preferably be youth-owned 
  • Have a minimum account balance of R50,000 

What documents are needed for application?

Applicants must submit: 

 

  • Stokvel bank account confirmation 
  • Proof of monthly contributions 
  • Stokvel profile 
  • ID copies of main members of the executive committee 

is it only for Stokvels?

Yes, the programme is specifically designed for stokvels that meet the eligibility criteria and are committed to growth and formalisation. 

What is the process followed applications?

The recruitment process includes: 

 

  1. Submission of application and required documents on Accelerator Appa
  2. Screening and shortlisting
  3. Interviews with a panel from Zevoli and Sanlam Foundation
  4. Final selection and notification
  5. Onboarding of successful stokvels
  6. Diagnostic assessments
  7. Development of individualised growth plans
  8. Participation in the Stokvel Development Programme

How will I know if my stokvel is selected?

All applicants will be notified at each stage of the process. Communication will be shared via email.
